    Lyte was founded in 2021 by Alexander Shpunt, Arman Hajati, and Yuval Gerson — engineers who played key roles in developing the depth-sensing and perception systems behind Face ID at Apple Inc. Shpunt previously co-founded PrimeSense, the 3D sensing company Apple acquired in 2013 for $350 million, laying the groundwork for Apple’s biometric technology.

    PrimeSense technology was also instrumental in powering Microsoft Kinect, one of the first mass-market computer vision products. That experience, the founders say, exposed both the promise and limitations of vision systems when deployed at scale.
